Patrick G. Granson, Division Director

Patrick G. Granson, MCP, CBO, LEED-AP, is the director of Code Enforcement, a division of the Mecklenburg County Land Use and Environmental Services Agency. He is responsible for all plan reviews, permitting, and inspections services throughout Mecklenburg County, including Charlotte and the six surrounding towns of Davidson, Cornelius, Huntersville, Matthews, Mint Hill, and Pineville. Code Enforcement also houses the Mecklenburg County Fire Marshal's office, which conducts fire investigations, fire code plan reviews, and fire safety inspections and education for all projects outside the Charlotte city limits.  

He joined the County in 1990 as a building code official. Patrick served in many roles, including director of permitting and plan review, before being promoted to Code Enforcement director in 2016.  

Patrick holds a Bachelor of Arts in business administration from Belmont Abbey College and has earned the following certifications and licenses:                                                                                                                                                      

  • North Carolina Standard Level III Certificates Building, Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing and Fire from the North Carolina Code Officials Qualification Board 

  • International Code Council certifications in Building, Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing and Fire 

  • Certified Building Official  

  • Accreditations from the United States Green Building Council for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design  

  • Licensed North Carolina General Contractor and Plumbing Contractor
