    The Community Engagement Task Group (CETG) will hold its first Youth Resource Fair on Saturday.

  2. 2,700 Neighbors in Need: County Releases Housing & Homelessness Report

    The annual State of Housing Instability and Homelessness (SoHIH) Report combines local, regional, and national data across the housing continuum, serving as foundation from which Charlotte-Mecklenburg can make informed decisions on the allocation of resources and development of systems of care. The report consists of three main sections: Homelessness, Housing Instability, and Stably Housed.

  3. 10 and 15 Years of Public Service: Commissioners Recognized with Service Pins

    Three members of the Mecklenburg Board of County Commissioners have been recognized for milestones in their service to the community. At the Board’s meeting on Dec. 5, 2023, County Manager Dena R. Diorio presented Commissioner Pat Cotham with her 10-year service pin, and Chair George Dunlap and Commissioner Vilma D. Leake with their 15-year service pins. 

  4. Budget Badge of Honor: 2024 Spending Plan Recognized Nationally

    Mecklenburg County has been recognized for its Fiscal Year 2023-2024 budget. The Office of Management and Budget was awarded the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association. In addition, Mecklenburg County received special recognition for the budget process and for strategic goals and strategies.

  5. Notice: Final Day to Pay Property Taxes Without Interest is Jan. 5  

    The Office of the Tax Collector (OTC) encourages taxpayers to remit their tax payments now to avoid delinquency. Real estate and personal property tax payments must be paid or postmarked by the United States Postal Service (USPS) on or before Jan. 5, 2024, to avoid interest charges.

  8. Help with Heating Bills: Applications for Assistance Begin Dec. 1

    Residents who have trouble paying their winter heating bills can get help through Mecklenburg County’s Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP). It is one of several programs that help low-income households with their immediate energy needs, so they do not need to choose between heating their homes and other basic needs. Mecklenburg County will begin taking LIEAP applications on Dec. 1 for senior citizens aged 60 and older or disabled individuals.

    Providing services to more residents across Mecklenburg County takes on new meaning as Public Health's first mobile health unit has arrived and is ready to take to the road. The mobile van will be used for vaccination, testing, and education events year-round.

    In this last month of the application season, the County is offering in-person application help.
